Where to Stay
Where to stay.
La Boscosa does not offer accommodation on site. We are a working horse and macadamia farm, we host one wedding at a time, and the property closes at the end of the night.
That is less of a constraint than it sounds. You are fifteen to thirty minutes from one of the most established holiday accommodation markets in Australia. Most couples put their guests in Noosa, keep the immediate family closer to the estate, and run a coach between the two.
This page tells you where to look, and names the handful of places close to us that are worth knowing about.
Start with Noosa
For the bulk of your guests, book Noosa. The choice is deeper than anything the hinterland can offer, guests can walk to dinner without driving, and the day after has somewhere to go.
Noosa Heads
about 25–30 min from the estate
Hastings Street, Main Beach and the national park. Resorts, apartments and holiday houses, at the top of the market.
Noosaville
about 20 min from the estate
Along the river on Gympie Terrace. Self-contained apartments, more space for the money — better for families who want a kitchen and a laundry.
Tewantin
about 15 min from the estate
The quiet option, and the closest of the three. Holiday parks, cabins and pub rooms — where guests on a budget, guests with caravans and guests with small children tend to land.
A note on searching. Accommodation platforms group properties loosely, so a search for one hinterland town will often return houses twenty minutes away in another. Check the map pin before you book, not the town name in the listing title.
Closer to the estate
These are the places within about fifteen minutes of our gate. There are not many of them, which is the nature of the hinterland. They suit the couple, the immediate family and the wedding party far better than they suit a hundred guests.
Boreen Point and Lake Cootharaba — about ten minutes
The closest cluster to us, on the lake at the edge of the Great Sandy National Park.
- Habitat Noosa — A lakefront eco camp with glamping tents, cabins and camping sites, a brewery and a large bar and bistro. Comfortably the biggest bed count near the estate, and the only place close by that can take a large, casual group.
- Lake Cootharaba Motel — Five motel units and a two-bedroom beach house on the main beach. Small, simple, and the closest conventional rooms to La Boscosa — taking the whole property houses an immediate family comfortably.
- Boreen Point Campground — Council-run, on the lake, with amenities and a camp kitchen. The genuine budget option.
Pomona — about ten to fifteen minutes
A small hinterland town under Mount Cooroora, with a distillery, cafes and the Majestic Theatre.
- Noosa Eco Retreat — Six eco-luxe yurts on more than a hundred private acres, with king beds, ensuites, private decks and firepits. Takes no more than twelve adults at a time — a clean exclusive-use booking for the wedding party.
- Pomona Hotel — A country pub on the main street with rooms upstairs. Cheap, close, and walkable to dinner.
Ringtail Creek — minutes from the gate
- Alaya Verde — A three-pavilion luxury bed and breakfast on Ringtail Creek Road with a nineteen-metre lap pool, outdoor baths and a full breakfast. Adults only and small, so it's the couple's option rather than a guest option — and the only commercial accommodation in our own locality.
Cooroy — about twenty minutes
Worth knowing for one specific reason.
- Cooroy Luxury Motel Apartments — A two-minute walk from Cooroy railway station — the one place a guest can reach without a car.
If you run accommodation nearby
This list is short because the hinterland is quiet, and we would rather it were useful than long. If you own or manage accommodation near Ringtail Creek, Boreen Point, Pomona, Cooroy or Kin Kin and you would like to be considered for this page, email us at hello@laboscosaestate.com.au with your property, your capacity and your website.
We are not charging for a listing and we are not taking commission. We are simply trying to give couples an honest answer to the question of where their guests should sleep.
How to think about it
The couple and the immediate family. Stay close. Anything within fifteen minutes means you are not spending the morning of your wedding in a car. Boreen Point, Pomona and Ringtail Creek all work.
The wedding party. Take a whole house or a whole small property. The hinterland is full of five and six bedroom houses that sleep ten to twelve, and an exclusive-use booking removes the logistics of getting eight people ready in three different postcodes.
Everyone else. Noosa. Book early for anything between September and January, and earlier again for a long weekend.
One thing to check before you book a house. Many holiday houses in the hinterland and around Noosa explicitly prohibit functions, parties and events, and some are adults only or cannot accommodate guests with mobility needs. If you are planning welcome drinks or a getting-ready morning with hair and makeup at the house, confirm in writing that it is permitted before you pay a deposit.
Getting to us and home again
There is no useful public transport between Noosa and the estate, and there is no accommodation on site, so transport is something to settle early rather than late.
A minimum of one bus is required for every wedding over fifty guests. Council approval requires it, and it costs you nothing at the venue end. It is also why most couples base their guests in one or two places rather than scattering them. A single coach loop through Noosa Heads, Noosaville and Tewantin covers the overwhelming majority of beds in the region.
Music finishes at 10:00pm and all guests are away by 10:30pm — 11:00pm and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Couples who want the night to continue generally arrange it back in Noosa, which is another argument for keeping the guest list in one or two hotels.
We keep a list of coach operators who know the road and the gate, and we will send it with your enquiry.
Ask us
We are happy to talk through where to put people once we know your guest numbers and where they are travelling from. It is a five-minute conversation that saves a great deal of rearranging later.
